With the Fenix HL60R Headlamp, sundown will no longer slow you down on your next adventure in the great outdoors. This headlamp has it all: a super bright LED, durable high-grade aluminum housing, it’s USB rechargeable, and it even has a IPX-8 waterproof rating, which means it can be submerged 2 meters.
The HL60R isn’t like your typical little camping headlamp. Instead of being powered by wimpy little low powered AAA batteries, this badass headlamp is powered by either two CR123A 3 volt batteries or a single 3.6 volt 2,600mAH rechargeable lithium ion battery. This lithium ion battery is recharged via a micro USB port on the outside of the headlamp.
There are 3 LEDs on the Fenix HL60R. The first is the Main LED in the center of the headlamp, which consists of a Neutral White Cree LED with a lifespan of 50,000 hours. This main light has 5 brightness level settings and has a maximum output brightness of 950 lumens. When at its brightest setting (which is called turbo mode), the beam is effective up to 116 meters. Just make sure you have a charger handy when using turbo mode since you can only expect up to 48 minutes of runtime at that setting.
The other two are the smaller low power red LEDs with a brightness of 1 lumens, which is great for preserving your eyes’ natural night vision when star gazing. With the main light in eco mode or when using the pair of red LEDs, it has a runtime of up to 100 hours.
During my testing, I found the Fenix HL60R to be exceptionally well built and very easy to use. The headband is comfortable, adjustable, and it can fit over hats and helmets. This headlamp would be perfect for anyone who enjoys camping, jogging, kayaking, backpacking, stargazing/astronomy, night photography, or even spelunking (cave exploring). If you enjoy any of those low- light activities, then I highly recommend you consider the HL60R headlamp from Fenix the next time you are in the market for a LED flashlight/headlamp.
